Finally after three weeks of horrible side affects, saran wrapped showers, and drug dictated schedules, I am free! Finally my nurse and I agreed that my yucky feelings could have been from the antibiotics and not from a possible cold. A white blood count test proved my body was not fighting anything foreign, so off of the IVs I went! Yea!!
This was the roughest tune-up I have ever had. I don’t have a clue why. I have been on these same antibiotics before and only suffered slight nausea, but it paled in comparison to this time. It hit really hard New Years Eve (so much for celebrating). Summersaulting stomach, fever, a scary achy pain in my chest and a pins and needles feeling all over. Thank goodness a friend of mine stayed the time with me, although I don’t think he realized how awful I was feeling. I was a bit scared that something really bad was happening to my poor body. I don’t usually complain unless something is really bothering me, so it must have been really bad. I admit, I stopped one of the antibiotics before consulting my doctor (bad bad patient). But I was so thankful I did the next day. I felt so much better. All of the issues had lessened considerably.
Due to my high blood sugar levels I seem to be constantly dehydrated. Even though it was a pain being hooked to an IV for three hours every other evening I felt so much better getting some fluids in me.
So bye bye IVs for now. I hope I don’t have to see them again for another year!
