Goodbye Grandma

rose grandmaI got word this morning that my grandmother has passed on. She lived to be 93 years old.

Grandma has been suffering for a long time. As stubborn as she was, she kept fighting. I hold her stubbornness dear to my heart. It is the same kind stubbornness that keeps me fighting cystic fibrosis.

Having alzheimer’s disease, heart problems, Grandma put up a good fight. As the nurse said the other day, she had broken every rule in the book and should have passed a long time ago. My family finds humor in that comment because we know how stubborn we each are (it runs in the family).

Rest in peace and happiness Grandma. I love you.

P.S. Tell Grandpa “hi!” for us and that we miss him dearly, and we will miss you too.

  2. Aspen, what a beautiful tribute to mom & grandma. Can’t you just see her with Grandpa now, I bet she is really giving him a talkin’ to. And all he is saying is… “Well, what took you so long?”
She loved her roses and her fav color was red – this rose is the perfect tribute to her. Thank you for sharing this with us. We love you — Ant Donlyn
