I got my port below my collar bone. It sticks out further than I'd like because I have about 4% body fat, but hey, my arms look better that way.

I really hate doing the monthly flushes since I didn't even need it until this flu. I had 2 colds and the flu before this without getting terribly sick. I guess this one was particularly nasty.

Anyway, I ran up to the third floor at school last night and didn't spaz. I guess I'm better now. I couldn't even do that last summer when I started coming back to school, so that's actually an improvement. I'm I.V. free today.

Get better soon, Aspen.

By the way, if you have the funds, and want to look at blogging more... professionally to earn money around the clock, check out http://www.sobevent.com in Chicago in May. I'll be there with my closest 100-250 blogging friends.

Hi Mildred! Good to hear from you again!
Thanks for your well wishes.
Getting beaten is exactly why I wanted to go to the hospital (how horrible does that sound to those not familiar!) :D After complaining for a couple days, they finally got things right. I am feeling quite a bit clearer now, which makes me so very happy. I still feel like I have a little more work to go though. I am only half way through my meds, so hopefully I can kick this thing soon.

Jesse - I don't have a port... yet. I am seriously considering it, but my biggest dilemma is where to have it placed. So far I have been dealing with PICC lines. But after I saw my friend's port, I am not so scared of them anymore.

Aspen,
I hope you were able to get back home and you're feeling much better.
I remember being soooo frustrated with hospital dietary for not following dr. orders. They were usually pretty good about sending enough food, just not a lot to choose from.
Not getting enough pounding... isn't that one of the major ideas about being admitted?? I'd be complaining too!
Take care and get better!

I have a suggestion on the meals for next time, should that day come again: tell them 'double portions.'

Do you have a port for home therapy or do you do PICC lines? I had about 10-12 PICC lines until my last time when they discovered that my veins in my armpits had scarred up almost to closing. Sometimes it makes my fingers tingly.

I got a port in 2006 and this is the first time I've used it since I got it installed. I must say, it was nice to not go to the hospital to get hooked up for my first treatment. The meds arrived, my wife stabbed me, and I was off to the races to get healthy.
